Sport and Music - Chwaraeon a Cherddoriaeth
We encourage our children to be fit, healthy and active. We develop these skills through our PE curriculum, extra-curricular programme and sporting competitions against other schools. Our sports teams compete with other schools in the area in swimming galas, athletic meetings and other sporting competitions, festivals and tournaments e.g. football, netball, cricket, rugby, cross-country, tennis and table tennis.
With all our sporting activities, the aim is for the pupils to participate competitively with particular emphasis on enjoyment, sportsmanship and being part of a team.
We enjoy a great deal of success and have developed an excellent reputation for sport. Our children are often noted for their behaviour and sportsmanship.
Music and Drama

Tavernspite School has a strong musical tradition. We have a School Choir that performs at various events throughout the year. In addition to the normal school music curriculum, there is an opportunity for children to learn the recorder, piano, guitar, ukulele, string, woodwind and brass instruments. They may also benefit from singing lessons. We also have a very good school ensemble which includes many of our instrumentalists.
Special Events – Our school hall is very spacious. It has a very modern stage area with a sound system complete with microphones and quadraphonic speakers. Throughout the year we hold a number of special events including our Eisteddfod and ‘Cawl a Chan’ to celebrate St. David’s Day, Christmas concerts and Carol Services and special assemblies.
Our school is part of a wonderful community and the support we have from parents whilst holding these events is outstanding. The children always have the opportunity to perform to large and appreciative audiences which is a great way for developing their confidence and performance skills.
