I believe that it is a privileged position to be in and I am excited to have this opportunity. It is of great importance that we work together to allow our children to be happy, confident learners who thrive and most importantly love coming to school.
Our aim is to create a structured, stimulating and calm learning environment which promotes active learning where the children are encouraged to be positive in their approach to their learning and we motivate the children to “Be all they can be” which is our school motto. I am very proud to say that I have a professional team of staff within my class who create a very caring and happy environment for all children.
We make full use of our outdoor space which includes our woodland area, nature garden and log circle with our story telling chair. The children have access to many outdoor activities such as an adventure playground, running track with exercise stations, a climbing wall and quiet areas. This enables us to promote and instil a healthy attitude to physical activity.
Throughout the year the children will have opportunities to take part in our outdoor Forest School curriculum. We travel to the site in Lampeter Velfrey in our school minibus. Activities include shelter building, making fires, preparing and cooking lunch, plant identification, singing, telling stories and we tend to end the day toasting marshmallows around the log circle.
The children benefit from a very whole-heartedly, natural, physical and outdoor experience where they develop and build skills for life.
The year Two class environment is a very warm, welcoming and light class with very good facilities, including three standalone computers and an interactive whiteboard accessible to all pupils.
The classroom has an extensive carpet area and space for large group circle time sessions and for key lesson introductions. The classroom boasts a great view of our nature garden and the extensive field area at the north of the school building.
All tasks in the afternoon have literacy and numeracy skills included. We encourage the children to use as much incidental Welsh as they can.
Our aim is to encourage good habits and we ask the children to read regularly at home, to learn their tables, to practise weekly spellings and handwriting.
Children have a learning log project to complete once every half term. This is an opportunity to extend in-school learning, and to work with parents at home to create a project which complements our termly topic.
Please bring your child to school dressed in their P.E. kit on their designated day.
Please bring in a healthy snack for your child to enjoy at morning break!
