Class 4

Croseo i Flwyddyn 4! Welcome to Class 4. My name is Mr Kieron Davies and I am the Year 4 teacher.

My passion for sport and the outdoors are a significant theme within my teaching and routines, which instil life-long interests and a love for being fit, strong and healthy.

In line with the ethos of Tavernspite CP School, our mission is to provide our pupils with rich, authentic learning experiences which allow the children to have purposeful, memorable and enjoyable opportunities.

With the ‘Four Purposes’ at the heart of our teaching and learning, our environment and experiences allow the children to become capable within a range of skills to reach each individual’s potential. Our pupils are encouraged to be valued, ethical citizens of Wales and the wider world, and our purpose driven topics allow the children to fulfil these experiences.’

In the Autumn Term, we study ‘Justice and Relationships’ which allows us to explore laws, rules, crime and punishment throughout different cultures and societies over periods of history.

In addition, this topic allows us to become healthy individuals, building on prior understanding of social norms, and exploring the importance of healthy relationships.

Within the Spring Term, we explore the ‘Continent of Contrast’, Asia. This topic is so vast, allowing the children to explore many of Asia’s varying cultures. A firm favourite during this topic is our focus on food where we taste, make and study the unique palate of Asian cuisine.

Finally, in the summer term, we have an environmental focus where we explore ‘Oceans and Pollution’. Pupils are always so engaged in this topic where we become Ethical and Informed citizens. In this term, the children learn about the Titanic disaster and then focus on local history including The Sea Empress Disaster.

Our pupils enjoy this topic as they can get hands on down at our picturesque local beaches taking part in many activities to learn about our coasts, oceans and marine wildlife as well as understanding the importance of looking after and protecting our beaches.
