As part of our healthy schools work we have developed a strong culture of supporting and developing the emotional and mental wellbeing of staff and pupils.
We lead a project called TEaM – ‘Tavernspite/Templeton Emotional and Mental well-being’ action group aimed at improving everyone’s mental well-being and supporting those who may be struggling.
TEaM have their own logo and identity and are well promoted throughout the school community.
As part of the work of TEaM, the children have written documents and policies, for example, ‘How do we look after our emotional and mental well-being? ‘What do we do when we need help and support?’ and ‘The pursuit of happiness?’
In addition, we are a Trauma Informed School, this means that our staff are suitably trained to support pupils enduring any form of trauma or suffering the consequences of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
We have a fully trained ELSA who is based on site and available to the children whenever required to support their emotional needs.
Access to our ELSA is usually through a referral process. Please let us know if you feel your child may need some extra emotional support, maybe to get through a difficult time.
ELSA sessions are usually weekly and for a defined period initially or until the child is feeling better about a situation they are facing or an emotion they may be feeling.
We are very blessed to have an excellent ELSA who really does make a difference to children’s lives. It is a service that we are very proud of.
