Safeguarding

What procedures are in place for Safeguarding and Child Protection?

Safeguarding is of paramount importance at Tavernspite School. We have very comprehensive and extensive procedures for the safeguarding of children and work very closely with the Local Authority safeguarding team and the Child Care Assessment Team.

A senior member of staff is the Designated Safeguarding Person (DSP) although the culture of our school is that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All staff and volunteers have DBS checks, two references and receive child protection training.

We have a very detailed ‘Safeguarding policy’ that has been agreed by the Governing Body and is understood and available to all staff and volunteers.

The safeguarding of children is an absolute priority at our school!

What are the routines for the beginning and end of the school day?

To ensure your children are absolutely safe on arriving and leaving school, we have the following procedures in place.

On arrival in the morning, staff will be waiting outside the school building to greet you and then take your children in to school.

Parents collect their children at the end of the day from the areas outside the classrooms. The staff will also bring your children out to you directly at the end of the school day as part of our safeguarding procedures.

Children are not allowed to go unless staff have actually handed them over to a named adult.
